Routine Podiatry treatments in the clinic in Marple are the care of toe nails, corns, hard skin, dry cracked heels + fissures, fungal infections, blisters, callus, thickened toe nails + athlete's foot treatment.
Routine Podiatry is very important if you are older than 60, or have condotions such as Diabetes, poor circulation, impaired vision, reduced mobility such as in arthritis and lower back conditions, painful corns or callus, dry cracked skin, peripheral neuropathy, dementia, fungal or thickened toe nails
Fungal nail infections are the most common disease to infect the toe nail. A microbiology test can be offered to test for a positive fungal nail infection and in some cases the specific fungal micro-organism can be identified to help with treatment management. In some cases the fungus may have spread to the skin, which is termed athletes foot, appropriate advice to treat this common skin condition will be addressed
Foot and heel pain treatmenot involves a musculoskeletal assessment of pain in your foot or ankle area, the anatomy of the area, including joints, tendons, ligaments and bones will be assessed. A diagnosis and treatment plan discussed and initiated, and in some cases a more in depth biomechanical assessment may be required and provision of orthotics . This may include kinesiology taping as part of the treatment management which is very common in plantar fasciitis treatment.
A Biomechanical assessment is a clinical examination into your lower limb function looking closely for any abnormalities that may be causing pain or discomfort affecting your day to day life and activities
The biomechanical assessment of foot function and gait will allow the podiatrist to give the best treatments for the individual. This will offer long term solutions to your mobility and activity levels and improve your quality of life. Orthotics are made on site by Louise, semi-bespoke functional, or simple insoles, depending on your Diagnosis and treatment management plan.
Biomechanical assessments take approximately one hour, a re-habilitation exercise programme will be discussed and e-mailed for you to complete.
Louise at Archways has 10 years experiences workin in the NHS where she developed the Paediatric clinic involved in assessing children’s musculoskeletal problems, conditions providing a wide range of orthotics used to treat many of those conditions.
The majority of foot conditions result from either trauma, hereditary factors and / or deformity. Footwear can also play a major role in a child's foot health.
A child's gait may look different to an adults and could just be developmental, which will be advised at the appointment
